Self Driven Terms |
1. Reservation and Payment • Vehicles must be reserved in advance. Full payment, including any deposits and additional charges, is to be made at the rental desk upon vehicle collection.
2. Refundable Deposit • A security deposit is required and will be refunded upon safe return of the vehicle to Ryde Rent A Car’s Head Office at Airport Road, Katunayake 11450, or to an authorized agent or representative. • For credit/debit card payments, refunds will be processed within 10 working days.
3. Fuel and Repairs • The cost of fuel, lubricants, and minor repairs up to USD 28 will be borne by the Hirer.
4. Daily Maintenance • The Hirer must ensure daily checks and maintenance of the vehicle’s oil, water, spare wheel, jack, and tire air pressure.
5. Breakdowns and Accidents • A replacement vehicle will be provided only in case of a major breakdown, not for accidents. • If an accident occurs, a substitute vehicle can be arranged at an additional cost.
6. Authorized Drivers • The vehicle may only be driven by the individual(s) listed in the rental agreement. • Additional drivers will incur extra charges. • The vehicle must not be sub-rented or transferred to third parties.
7. Early Return or Damage • No refunds will be provided if the vehicle is returned early or damaged before the agreed rental period ends.
8. Accident Reporting • In the event of an accident, the Hirer must immediately notify Ryde Rent A Car, the insurance provider, and the nearest police station. • A police report and insurance statement must be obtained before returning the vehicle. • Charges will continue until all required documents are submitted.
9. Prohibited Use • The Hirer agrees not to use the vehicle for illegal purposes, transporting pets or wild animals, or violating any local traffic laws, including the Motor Traffic Act of Sri Lanka.
10. Insurance Rejection • The Hirer is liable for full costs of damage and rental if an insurance claim is rejected due to incorrect reporting, driving under the influence, or any other invalid documentation.
11. No Liability • Ryde Rent A Car is not responsible for any compensation or costs incurred by the Hirer or vehicle user.
12. Abandonment • The Hirer must not leave the vehicle unattended or abandon it. Any resulting damages will be charged to the Hirer.
13. Damage Responsibility • The Hirer is responsible for damage caused by:
▸ Tire blowouts or punctures ▸ Running the vehicle without oil ▸ Use of incorrect fuel ▸ Neglect of water/oil maintenance ▸ Underside damages
14. Rental Extension • Extensions are only granted after advance payment.
15. Interior/Exterior Damage • The Hirer is responsible for any damage or loss to the vehicle’s interior, exterior, accessories, and remote keys.
16. Vehicle Cleaning Fee • A cleaning fee of USD 17 will be charged if the vehicle is returned unwashed.
17. Cancellation Policy • Cancellations will incur a 50% charge of the total rental fee. (Learn more: https://ryderentacar.com/cancellation_policy/)
18. Booking Confirmation • All bookings and quotations are considered confirmed only after payment.
19. Quotation Validity • Quoted prices are valid for 7 days only. Once a booking is confirmed within this period, the quoted price will remain unchanged and will not be affected by this validity condition.
20. Price Changes • Rental charges are subject to change in accordance with government tax regulations.
21. Applicable Taxes • All prices are subject to government taxes (VAT + SSCL).
